recently someone told me that the injury Jake sustained in WWI in the Sun Also Rises was the loss of his penis and so I read the novel again yesterday and the oppressive way that he and Lady Ashley never sleep together was totally stripped of romance for me. Like-he has NO PENIS. Still love him though, faulkner too.
